Experience Writing an Entire Season of TV in a Virtual Writers Room

The Writer’s Room Masterpiece Program is a 6-month advanced educational program designed to set you on the path to becoming a successful writer or producer for TV.  And the best part? It’s completely virtual, so you can participate from anywhere!

How does it work?

Hosted by a live instructor and using a step-by-step instructional guide that is FULL of secrets and golden nuggets of wisdom from real TV show writers, you and 8 other writers will be participating in a virtual video conference writer’s room using a software used by actual writers for TV. The software includes all the tools writers need to create a quality script in a virtual writer’s room. All 9 of you and an instructor will be collaborating to create your very own masterpiece TV show!

Whether you are a very experienced writer or are just dipping your toes in, this program will help you explore your passion for writing and teach you the skills necessary to be successful in the TV writing industry, and it will help give you experience needed to attract literary agents and hiring producers!  Creating a masterpiece is all about collaboration – accomplishing a shared vision using the strengths of all.  If you’re the type of person who learns from doing and practicing, then this program is for you.

What's Included?

24 workshop sessions – Sessions are once a week for 3 hours.  There are 10 minute breaks after each 50 minutes.

An 85-page instruction manual – This guides each step throughout the 6 months.  The instructional guide provides 24 lessons with peer exorcises and assignments.

Access to professional writers room software – This software allows writers to outline, make beat sheets, make notes, etc., in real time with other collaborators.

Unlimited peer and instructor feedback – Each session involves detailed discussions about the script and the creative process.  Fine tune the masterpiece and learn from each other’s strengths.

Live Q&A with industry professionals – Students have the opportunity to engage directly with an experienced writer or show runner from the television industry.

2 actor read-throughs – On week 20, writers get to experience an episode read through with professional actors.  They’ll get a chance to address feedback and see it out in a second read through on week 22.

Lessons to set up your scripts for success – In the final weeks, writers learn how to navigate logistical curve balls thrown at scripts, and how to navigate the business after the program.

New friends and creative contacts! – This program is for new writers and seasoned writers looking to be productive in their down time.  You never know where these new connections could take you.

A masterpiece of your very own –  At the end of this 6 month program, you will have a well polished season of a TV show.  Each collaborator will have one episode they have written and can use as portfolio material, but the entire masterpiece is protected and cannot be pitched without the legal consent of all collaborators, in separate contracts created, outside of the program.
